The Crystal House draws inspiration from museum displays, where each piece tells a story and showcases the designer's work. The design features a bespoke display wall with a large glass panel that reflects the collection items, creating a gallery-like experience. This layout also incorporates a wave concept, with a handcrafted feature wall in the living area, adding a touch of elegance and creativity.
One of the key strengths of The Crystal House is its integration of home automation technology. The property is equipped with a fully automatic control system for lighting, curtains, and air conditioning. Different areas and mood scenes can be programmed, allowing residents to create the perfect ambiance for various activities, such as watching a movie or hosting a dinner party.
Despite the challenge of limited ceiling height and small room sizes, the design utilizes curves and lighting effects to expand the sense of space. The result is a layout that frames the bedroom, containing a bath, study, and rest areas, into a cohesive and visually stunning unit.
With a focus on comfort and style, the design incorporates a carefully selected color scheme and lighting fixtures. Extensive research was conducted to ensure that the lighting choices were not only aesthetically pleasing but also met the technical requirements for showcasing the client's collection. The use of environmentally friendly materials and the collaboration between lighting and interior design concepts further enhance the overall experience.
The Crystal House spans 1,500 square feet and was completed in February 2017 in Hong Kong. The project received the Bronze A' Design Award in 2019 for its outstanding creativity and resourcefulness. This prestigious award recognizes designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
